What documents are required for a heavy vehicle inspection?

Depending on the category of your vehicle, the respective documents need to be brought along for the technical inspection:

General Required Documents

  • Vehicle registration certificate.
  • Previous technical inspection certificate.
  • Tachograph certificate.
  • Speed limiter certificate or a responsible declaration of non-obligation to equip.

Additional documents:

Public Use Truck (ΦΔΧ):

Electronic readable signal issuance certificate.

Vehicles with Hydraulic Lift:

Service note from the transport service if a hydraulic lift was installed afterward, or a factory or dealership certificate for an originally equipped hydraulic lift.

Dump Trucks (Earthmoving):

The registration document should state: Intended for earthmoving products and features an angular rib at a height of ...m. Trucks that do not have an angular rib for ΦΔΧ or have a service note stating: It will never transport excavation or demolition products.

Crane Trucks:

Lifting equipment suitability certificate.

Vehicles for Transporting Removable Bodies – Containers:

If more than one similar removable body is being transported, the following must be provided:

a) Certified plans of the removable bodies.

b) Service note from the transport department.

Vehicles for Transporting Perishable Food (ATP) – For international transport:

ATP certificate.

Vehicles for Transporting Dangerous Goods (ADR):

ADR Approval Certificate.

Test sheet from the Inspection Body.

What documents are required for a passenger vehicle or a commercial vehicle up to 3.5 tons?

Depending on the category of your vehicle, the respective documents need to be brought along for the technical inspection:

For regular vehicles:

  1. Vehicle registration certificate.
  2. Previous technical inspection certificate.
  3. Exhaust emission card.
  4. Identity card.

Taxi vehicle:

  1. Vehicle registration certificate.
  2. Previous technical inspection certificate.
  3. Exhaust emission card.
  4. Identity card.
  5. Certificate for taxi meter installer.
  6. Certificate for issuing adhesive electronic label.
  7. VHF radio frequency license if it is a RADIO-TAXI.

Driving school vehicle:

  1. Vehicle registration certificate.
  2. Previous technical inspection certificate.
  3. Exhaust emission card.
  4. Identity card.
  5. Driving School operation license.
  6. If it is the first MOT inspection, a Mechanical Engineer’s certificate is required for the correct placement and operation of the auxiliary braking systems.

Additional Requirements:

a) For a tow bar, a towing note is required.

b) For tinted windows (“smoked” glass), an approval certificate is needed.

c) Any modifications to the vehicle must be updated in the vehicle’s registration certificate.
